NOW Collective - Noa Geras, Olesya Gumenenko, Waldemar Masicz

The universal human need to belong, echoes in the yearning of the artists exhibiting in the house. All coming from war torn countries, the artist collective NOW — Noa Geras, Olesya Gumenenko, Waldemar Masicz — evoke the perpetual migrant — a human in desperate need of having their own corner of peace in the world. The existential need of having a safe home. 

The artists challenge the notion of safety within the domestic space, highlighting the fragile line between comfort and confinement, between security and vulnerability. 

The home, universally understood as a place of refuge, holds deep emotional and symbolic meaning. It is where we seek comfort, create memories, find shelter and grow. Yet, the notion of home is complex and often fraught with tension. For many, especially those affected by war, the home as an object is intertwined with instability, longing, and loss. 

NOW exhibited their individual and group projects at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg during the course “Make Art at Your Own Risk” by Thalia Hoffman and Manar Zuabi.
